SM, MS, IRC and stuff

Arrrggh, I’m stuck at super metroid :( (And what’s up with this invincible purple enemy in maridia no one on the internet seems to mention?)

Andeplane helped me install IBIRC on musikkspill.com, though it doesn’t work yet. We can’t find the problem, it just redirects us back to the front page. It’s as if the page isn’t assigned with the webadress it tries to send us to. (Or something like that. I’m not entirely sure.)

I begun reading Tokyo Akazukin, I’ve read it in english, but I haven’t been able to read the raw manga yet.
No furigana :( I need to learn more kanji

Well, the most awesome thing ever
*Spoiler*

Direct FF7 reference

Most people would probably look at it and think, yeah, FF reference, and some will get it at once.
It’s all in the name, Altos Tratus = Altostratus which is some kind of cloud (Get it) if my memory serves me right.
He communicates through speech bubbles which I find kind of funny.
I wonder what it says on the side though, damn you kanji.
And Matt Hazard hates ellipses apparently.

And I played some Fuel, and holy shit this game is huge.

See that red arrow, that stretch took me somewhere in between 1-2 hours at an average of 70 Mph (about 105 Km/h I think)
And the other picture is of the whole map, it’s so huge.

Who said norway is always cold and snowy?

Photobucket

-36 degrees celsius, that’s 98 Fahrenheit for you US ppl.
-I finally reached 10000 gamerscore on xbox live.
-Jazzin’ Park is awesome.
-And last but not least, the tip of a shoelace is called an aglet.

Gaming spree

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

The last couple of months have been dry-time for the gaming scene, especially on the x360.
That’s about to change though, there’s about 20 new games that might be worth trying this june\july.
Just look at 26th of june, that’s gonna be one great birthday :P
Guilty Gear 2: Overture (26. juni)
Alan Wake (26. juni)
Rage? (26. juni)
Singularity (26. juni)
Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires (26. juni)

But yeah, 3 new games tried out.
First out, Red Faction: guerrilla.
Who can resist a game where everything is destructible?
Not me atleast, there’s just so much satisfaction in running up to any wall\house\whatever, taking out your hammer and seeing the debris fly everywhere when you start smashing your way through the wall.
It’s nice for the time being but it might become repitive after some time.

Second, Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard, “old” but I never got to play it.
Sure there’s no ground breaking gameplay, and the graphics might be slightly bellow average.
But this game is all about comedy and parodying other games, both old and new. (Though, the older you are, the more you jokes you will get. Or if you’re like me, kinda young but experienced in the field of classic gaming lore. :P )
When you start the game, the first you will see is that you get an achievement for buying the game, then if you press start, it gives you one for reaching the pause menu.
Sure, it’s been done before, only difference is that this time it feels right.

If you check your mission list it actually says “shoot everything that moves” in every level, since that’s basically what you do in fps and third person shooters like this game.
Photobucket
Yes, these are kind of bland since it’s been done so many times before.
This though:
Photobucket
I mean, seriously? Failboat? That’s a new one.
The game is littered with stuff like “If you’re having trouble interrogating people, that’s because there’s no interrogating feature in this game”

lol Max Payne

Third, finally, the PAL version of Star Ocean – The last hope.
Upon starting the game you will be presented with what I feel is one of the best intros to any movie\game ever, it just feels that grand. (The game itself is also pretty grand, with 3DVDs and 50-100 hours expected gametime)
This game is an JRPG that takes place in 2097, or “spacedate 10″ if you prefer that, after world war III has destroyed the earth.
This game utilizes a real-time combat system, which reminds me of the “tales of” series, which is good for people who for some reason dislike turn-based, though I don’t prefer any one over the other.
And the music, my god, the music, I might call it one of the best soundtracks this generation.
Composed by Motoi Sakuraba which I feel is on par with Nobuo Uematsu (of Final fantasy fame).
Get this game now.
(Oh, and eldarians are just an excuse to get green haired girls and up the moe factor a notch.)

Not supposed to be a review or something, just some thoughts about the games.
This post turned out a little bit longer than I expected.

Now on to getting Fuel, which just got released for the x360. :)

lol damnation

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

I got Damnation for x360, and well, it sucks. (Though the bikes are pretty fun to use, they can drive upside down and straight up walls…. bad physics.)
First of, I played splitscreen coop with a friend, which puts the screens on top of eachother (no alternatives, I would prefer side-by-side) and it doesn’t stretch, it just turns into this “super-widescreen” mode which makes it hard to play.

And I had the message “Press LB to use the elevator” in the middle of my screen for three whole levels, possibly because I let player 2 start the elevator in the first level.

Also, it was generally confusing and it had some of the worst voice acting and poorly written dialogue I have ever seen.

Luckily, this was not the only game I managed to get a hold of, I also got the new Bionic Commando which is a fantastic game.
It has its flaws, but nothing really bad.
It might become somewhat one sided later in the game, but I can’t say for sure yet.

Arcade stick

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

Yesterday I went to Oslo and picked up my Arcana Heart 2 arcade style controller at Neo-tokyo. :3
It’s from hori (hori.jp) and it feels just like the real thing.
The reason I choose the arcana heart one is because it doesn’t looks so “boring” (white+pink and a pretty nice faceplate) and because I like arcana heart.

Some pics:

(It reads “Sugoi! Arcana Heart 2″)

I’ve yet to play arcana heart 2 with it though.
But what I did play was “The Embodiment of Scarlet Devil” (Touhou 6) and “Immaterial and Missing Power” (Touhou 7.5). (Using a triolinker from hkems)
I almost finished Embodiment of Scarlet Devil on hard first try, considering I haven’t played shmups in a long time and that I’ve never tried it with an arcade controller, I would say that’s pretty good.
The controls in Immateral and Missing Power felt flawless.
Hori = quality.

well

47/50 achivements in Wolverine’s revenge.
Almost finished Velvet assassin.
100% completed Worms 2 for PSP.
Megaman powered up completed on easy, normal and hard with mega, proto, timeman and almost roll.

Yes, interesting, I know.

Updated my computer

Friday, May 8th, 2009

I put in 4 extra gigs of RAM, as i mentioned earlier.
And I put two 300GB (Actually 279GB) disks in a Raid 0 array and installed Windows 7 on them.
Installed the silent knight II CPU cooler and overclocked my q6600 to 3.0GHz.
My 3dmark06 score increased from a little over 10000 to almost 16000. (And that’s without clocking my GPU)
(I think my CPU was a serious bottleneck to the rest of my system)

The gathering -Day 5-

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

The Stepmania finale was postponed to 02:00 I think, I can’t really remember.
aCiiiii won, RiChY got 2nd place.
They played Scar Symmetry – Prism & Gate as the final song.
link to video
And then we took some group pictures of the musikkspill.com guys.

The end of TG09.

The gathering -Day 3-

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

I got disqualified from the Stepmania compo for not sending in my scores in time…. someone decided to take my seat and start an super smash compo, so I had no chance of delivering any scores before they finished -_-”

Bought a Raid controller for my computer.

I attended a conference about Windows 7, where we discussed a lot of other stuff too. (NT, Dos, unix, os x)
It went on for over 3 hours, at first I thought it was supposed to be about 1 hour, that wasn’t the case though.
But I don’t regret it, we were let in on a few “secrets” if I may. Such as approximate release date for RC1 :3
